Kelly Parkinson is one of our longest serving dance teachers.
Miss Kelly has been teaching at Belmont Dance Centre for over 30 years and has 48 years of dance experience under her belt (or under her pointe shoes!)
Miss Kelly teaches a wide variety of our classes thanks to her long history in dance teaching. These classes include our RAD classical ballet from Pre-Primary to Advanced levels and solo and troupe eisteddfod work in different dance styles.
We’re extremely lucky to have Miss Kelly as one of our dance teachers as she has decades of wisdom to impart on our students. Her caring and professional teaching style has seen her grow numerous students into professional dancers. After dancing for so many years, Miss Kelly said it’s hard to choose her favourite style of dance. However, she said she can’t go past ballet, contemporary and Broadway jazz – especially anything by Bob Fosse!
While Miss Kelly has been lucky enough to be involved in numerous dance performances, she said her favourite was when she was 13 years old.
“I was selected, along with others, to dance with the Queensland Ballet Company when they performed at Civic Theatre in Newcastle. It was a truly wonderful, memorable experience,” she said.
Miss Kelly loves seeing her own students experience amazing dance opportunities through their ongoing training. She is grateful for the opportunity to teach wonderful students every year and loves watching them grow into confident dancers and young adults. She said it’s the best thing about being a dance teacher!
When Miss Kelly isn’t teaching, you’ll find her spending time with her family, watching rugby league, building Lego or shopping. Miss Kelly is also a huge lover of Disney and is always looking on the bright side of life and always brings her positive attitude to class.
