Belmont DaNce Centre
Kendall Lehman has been part of the teaching team at Belmont Dance Centre for over five years and takes on a whole range of different class types.
Kendall has been dancing since she was just three years old. She teaches the pre-junior, junior and intermediate hip hop classes, as well as the recreational jazz class, senior showcase troupe, and the Tuesday stretch class. She also takes on students for private lessons.
Miss Kendall has always had a passion for dance, and has almost completed all her RAD examinations. She has studied a whole range of dance genres including ballet, contemporary/lyrical, musical theatre, tap, and hip hop.
Her passion for the craft extended beyond the studio into her high school classrooms, as she completed her HSC at Hunter School of Performing Arts. She elected to study dance as one of her unit choices, all while continuing to work and dance with us.
Admitting Belmont Dance Centre has a special place in her heart, Kendall says she has always loved the family-friendly environment we offer. She takes great pride in helping her students understand the music, and its ability to guide your movement.
“I’ve loved the environment here ever since I started. It’s so loving and nurturing, I’m always amazed to see how much fun the kids have,” she said.
Miss Kendall believes you should let the music tell you how to move. This advice can be clearly seen when watching her perform her favourite dance style, hip hop. Kendall also really enjoys jazz and contemporary but says there’s nothing quite like the beat of hip hop music. “I’ll dance to anything that has a beat and a fast tempo. I love to direct my dancing to the irregular beats that lay behind the lyrics and rhythm,” she said.
Outside of the classroom, you’ll find Kendall binge-watching Netflix or spending time with her loved ones. In a movie about her life, Kendall would want Shivawn Joubert to play her, “purely because she is crazy talented, and I admire her so much.”
