Trudy Skippen

RAD Registered teacher  |  3-500525  |  Teachers Certificate and Teachers Diploma

Trudy Skippen is the director of Belmont Dance Centre and has been operating our dance school since 2018.

Miss Trudy is proud to carry on the legacy of our founder and patron, Mrs Kay Pletinger, who Miss Trudy says will always remain an important part of Belmont Dance Centre.

As well as being the director of Belmont Dance Centre, Miss Trudy teaches a number of our classes! She created and teaches our extremely popular Mummy and Me classes and oversees our Tiny Tots as well as Prep Ballet, Classical Ballet and Extension Classes.

Miss Trudy began dancing at the age of three and hasn’t stopped since! She was trained by Mrs Sandra Haddow and Ms Marie Walton-Mahon who she says was a huge part of fostering her love for dance. “Since learning from such dedicated dance teachers, it has always been my philosophy to project the same passion onto all of my students,” said Miss Trudy.

Miss Trudy went on to complete her Royal Academy of Dance training after completing school and has now been a RAD qualified dance teacher for over 30 years.

She is regularly asked to adjudicate at local and national eisteddfods where she gets to share her knowledge with students across the country. She’s used her adjudicating knowledge to help prepare her own students for both national and international competitions.

Miss Trudy’s passion and love for dance has seen her help dozens of students achieve success in national and international dance schools. As a mother of two daughters, one of whom is a ballerina in the Hamburg Ballet Company in Germany, Trudy understands the importance of building nurturing relationships with students to help them grow as dancers and individuals.

Miss Trudy has loved taking on the role of director and teacher at Belmont Dance Centre and is grateful to be a part of such a wonderful team.

“Working here is like having an extended family with all of the staff, students and community,” says Miss Trudy.

Creating a positive and nurturing environment for all her students is always at the front of Miss Trudy’s mind. She wishes to carry on the legacy set by Mrs Kay Pletinger and says, “It’s very important to me to not only provide the most talented teachers and mentors, but to provide a nurturing environment where all of the students will feel welcome and want to be.”

Miss Trudy has helped continue to create a dance environment that is fun, educational and nurturing for students of all ages, genders and abilities.  When she isn’t making us all smile at Belmont Dance Centre, you’ll find Miss Trudy relaxing and spending time with her family and friends. Or playing the odd game or two of Candy Crush (she may or may not have passed over 7000 levels…).
